Held annually at Jake’s Clays in Midland, this popular event features a morning clay shoot followed by the crowd-favorite Oil Patch Pit King Challenge and lunch cook-off. It’s the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow industry professionals, strengthen business relationships, and enjoy a day of outdoor fun.

Not a shooter? Step up to the grill and compete in the Oil Patch Pit King Challenge, where companies and individuals can showcase their best pit-master creations for a chance to earn the coveted title of 2026 Oil Patch Pit King.

Event Schedule

• 8:30 AM – Registration Opens
• 9:00 AM – Shotgun Start
• 11:15 AM – Pit King Contestants Begin Serving Entries
• 11:15 AM – Judging Begins (Registered Shooters Serve as Judges)
• 1:00 PM – Awards Presentation (Must Be Present to Win)
• 1:30 PM – 2026 Oil Patch Pit Kings Announced

Sponsorship Opportunities

Clay Shoot Registration

Individual Shooter: $300
Team of Four: $1,000

Registration includes breakfast, lunch, refreshments, event merchandise, and entry into raffle drawings featuring exciting prizes, including firearms.

• High Overall (HOA)

Oil Patch Pit King Challenge

Think your barbecue can rise above the competition? Enter the Oil Patch Pit King Challenge and put your culinary talents to the test.

This crowd-favorite open-grill competition allows participants to cook and serve virtually any pit-master specialty. From traditional barbecue favorites to creative signature dishes, the possibilities are endless. Registered shooters will serve as judges and vote for their favorite entries.

Bring your best recipes, your competitive spirit, and plenty of flavor—competition is expected to be fierce.

• 1st Place: Traveling Trophy, Official Pit King Aprons, $500 Cash & Bragging Rights
