Allstream Insiders Summary

Seadrill has announced contract awards and extensions for four offshore rigs in Indonesia, Malaysia, Angola and the U.S. Gulf, including a West Carina contract in Indonesia with approximately $420 million of stated firm-term value. According to Seadrill’s October 12 announcement, the portfolio of awards includes an estimated 880-day Indonesia program, West Capella extensions in Malaysia, a roughly three-year Sonangol Libongos extension in Angola, and a 25-day Sevan Louisiana contract with Kosmos in the U.S. Gulf.

The disclosed dollar figures for the West Carina and West Capella total approximately $514 million, excluding additional services. Seadrill did not disclose contract values for the Sonangol Libongos extension or the Sevan Louisiana assignment, so that figure is not a value for the full four-rig update.

Sevan Louisiana New Kosmos contract in the U.S. Gulf 25 days, with operations expected to begin in November 2026. No contract value was reported.

West Carina receives an 880-day Indonesia award

The West Carina has been awarded an estimated 880-day firm contract in Indonesia with an operator Seadrill did not identify. Seadrill reported approximately $420 million of firm-term value, including a mobilization fee and excluding additional services.

The company expects the program to commence in the first half of 2027. The agreement also contains priced options that could add up to another 880 days, but those options are separate from the reported firm term.

West Capella options extend Malaysian operations through February 2028

Seadrill said all remaining priced options and a further set of unpriced options have been exercised for the West Capella in Malaysia. The priced options add 120 days and approximately $41 million of stated contract value, while the exercised unpriced options add another 120 days and approximately $53 million, both excluding additional services.

Seadrill expects the West Capella to work in direct continuation through February 2028. The update confirms an additional 240 days of activity, rather than a new standalone drilling campaign.

Angola and U.S. Gulf work adds distinct near- and long-term assignments

In Angola, all remaining priced options for the Sonangol Libongos have been exercised, extending the rig’s current work by about three years through January 2030. The extension was awarded to Sonadrill, Seadrill’s 50:50 joint venture with an affiliate of Sonangol E.P.

Separately, Seadrill said the Sevan Louisiana received a 25-day contract with Kosmos in the U.S. Gulf, with operations expected to start in November 2026. The announcement does not identify the field or provide a contract value for that assignment.

Allstream perspective: the update pairs long-duration international work with a short U.S. Gulf assignment

Allstream perspective: The contract update creates clearer operating visibility across four markets rather than pointing to one concentrated program. The West Carina award establishes the longest newly awarded firm term in the release, while the West Capella and Sonangol Libongos exercises extend existing activity through 2028 and 2030, respectively.

For offshore suppliers and service companies, the release confirms rig-level commitments and expected start windows, but it does not identify equipment packages, shore-base scopes, individual field locations or contractor awards. Those details would need to come from future operator or project-specific disclosures.
