SUMMARY:Register Now for AAPG’s Carbon, Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) Conference 29–31 March 2022 – Houston
DESCRIPTION:This Event Reminder is Sponsored by:\n\nAn Emerging Field for Energy Professionals\nPlan now to attend AAPG’s Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) Conference 29–31 March 2022, in Houston Texas. Themed “An Emerging Field for Energy Professionals,” the in-person conference will highlight current CCUS work and address related challenges, including subsurface geologic storage, CO₂ enhanced hydrocarbon recovery, reservoir monitoring and risk assessment, case studies, industry applications, economics, incentives, and policy, infrastructure, non-technical considerations.\nAn Emerging Field for Energy Professionals\nThe maturing carbon market is a major driver for deployment of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) projects. Both the subsurface technical knowledge and related data sets of the petroleum industry are major inputs required for the world to successfully move towards a carbon-neutral and sustainable energy future. CCUS has experienced growing interest over the past two decades, due to the desire to reduce CO₂ emissions and to make industrial sources more environmentally sustainable. More recently, policy instruments such as the expanded Section 45Q federal tax credits – up to $35 per tonne for EOR and $50 for geologic storage – and carbon credit mechanisms such as California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) are providing opportunities that offset deployment costs and can result in CCUS being a potentially profitable enterprise.\nPlan now to attend AAPG’s Carbon, Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) Conference 29–31 March 2022, in Houston Texas. Themed “An Emerging Field for Energy Professionals,” the in-person conference will unite AAPG, SPE, and SEG and highlight current CCUS work and address related challenges, including:\n\nSubsurface Geologic Storage\nCO₂ Enhanced Hydrocarbon Recovery\nReservoir Monitoring and Risk Assessment\nCase Studies\nIndustry Applications\nEconomics, Incentives, and Policy\nInfrastructure\nNon-technical considerations\n\nExciting keynote speakers and lunch panels will drive the discussions of the future of energy. Technical speakers will represent research institutions, universities, and industry. The work presented at the conference will demonstrate the ongoing need for skilled petroleum geologists, geophysicists, and engineers to help define the future of carbon management.\n\nTechnical Sessions will be held at the University of Houston Cullen Performance Center.\nUniversity of Houston Cullen Performance Center\n4300 University Dr, Houston, TX 77004\nExhibition, Luncheons, and Networking Receptions will be held at the Hilton University of Houston just adjacent to the Cullen Performance Center.\nHilton University of Houston\n4450 University Dr, Houston, TX 77204\n\n \nFollow UpstreamCalendar.com for upcoming industry events. Upstream Calendar was created to help the industry to synchronize by providing a free lookahead for KEY industry events across the country.
